Turkey transport refugees to the Turkish-Greek border to put pressure on the EU.

Friday 28 February 2020 | Turkey sent dozens of buses to transport thousands of refugees, most notably Syria, to the Turkish-Greek border for free, and allowed them to enter Greece illegally, with the aim of putting pressure on the European Union countries.

Turkey stopped transferring refugees after the European Union announced financial aid for Turkey to take care of the refugees. Nevertheless, hundreds of refugees remained stuck on the Turkish-Greek border for weeks where the Turkish authorities refused to return them. This story was reported to Middle East Eye
