7 October 2018 | A protest in front of a Turkish military observation point in the town of Al-Surman near the city of Saraqib, east of Idlib province, northern Syria, to demand that Turkey pressure Russia to abide by the ceasefire areas specified in the Astana deal concluded between Iran, Turkey and Russia.
The Russian-backed Syrian government forces violated the deal and took control of part of the agreed-upon areas in Astana and eventually besieged the Turkish military point in Al-Surman and forced Turkey to withdraw. The point was part of Turkish, Russian and Iranian military points that were agreed to be stationed according to the Astana deal.
