Two artists opened a painting exhibition in the city of Afrin, northern Syria.
One of the artists is a displaced woman from Eastern Ghouta, a former opposition stronghold east of Damascus that was seized by the Russian-Syrian coalition in 2018. (Photos date 19 April 2019)
While the other artist is from the Kurdish-majority city of Afrin and was under the control of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units until it was seized by Turkish-backed rebels in 2018.
