21 April 2017 | Tens of thousands of rebels and civilians in the city of Homs, central Syria, left their homes and fled to northern Syria after more than three years of siege, refusing to settle with the Syrian government. The displaced were evacuated under the guarantee of Russia, the ally of the Syrian government, that they would not be targeted during their passage from the government-controlled areas between Damascus and Idlib.
